'I hope': Jurgen Klopp explains what he wants Jarell Quansah to do after Man United mistake

Jurgen Klopp has offered his advice to Jarell Quansah after his mistake against Manchester United.

It’s an afternoon Liverpool will want to forget. They only have themselves to blame. For much of the first half the Reds dominated the game, but in the end, they did not take their chances.

In the second-half, Liverpool let United back into it with a moment Jarell Quansah will want to forget.

His sloppy pass gave the ball away to Bruno Fernandes, who in all fairness pulled off a world-class finish to chip Caoimhin Kelleher.

That goal shifted the momentum in the game and allowed Manchester United to claw their way back. In the end, Liverpool managed to cancel out Kobe Mainoo’s second goal.

But they will be disappointed with the draw. On paper they should have won this match and should be two points clear at the top of the Premier League.

Jurgen Klopp on Jarell Quansah advice

Quansah’s pass to Fernandes was undoubtedly sloppy. However, the 21-year-old is not to blame for Liverpool’s slip-up. It was a collective effort.

The Reds should have taken their chances at the other end, and then Quansah’s error would not have mattered at all.

Naturally, it’s important to protect the talented youngster, who has been brilliant all season, and will not be defined by this mistake.

Jurgen Klopp speaking in his post-match press conference was also quick to jump to Quansah’s defence. As per The Athletic journalist, James Pearce, Klopp adamantly defended the youngster, and also gave him some word of advice on what he hoped Quansah would do.

“I thought he dealt extremely well with it,” Klopp said. “When our idols in the past made these kind of mistakes there was no social media. I hope he’s smart enough to switch that part off.”

Quansah’s brilliant stats against Manchester United

Apart from that one error, Quansah produced a solid performance against Manchester United.

He completed the most passes in the game (79) as per Fotmob, won four of his six duels and made nine recoveries, while winning two out of his two attempted tackles.

This was a solid performance from the young man. He will bounce back from this match and should not let the error define him.

Quansah is still one of the brightest young centre-back prospects in the Premier League.
