‘Main man’… Alejandro Garnacho sends message to Manchester United teammate after Liverpool clash

Alejandro Garnacho was a threat Liverpool could not keep their eyes off at Old Trafford during his 79 minutes on the pitch.

While not as impactful as in the FA Cup game where he had a hand in three of United’s four goals, Alejandro Garnacho‘s pace meant the visitors had to keep a watchful eye on him at all times, and they will have been relieved when he was taken off.

Garnacho did play a part in Kobbie Mainoo‘s goal, which saw him become the first teenager in 19 years to score a goal against Liverpool.

Mainoo and Garnacho have a strong bond, progressing together from the under-18s into the first team, and together they add real quality and hope to this United side.

Kobbie Mainoo sends message

Kobbie Mainoo was unfortunate his stunning goal was not a memorable winner against Liverpool. We will still look back on it with fondness, but it won’t stand out quite as much.

Mainoo reflected that it was the small details costing United, telling club media: “I feel like it’s just little mistakes.

“On the ball, off the ball, you know? I mean, they happen in games, but sometimes they can just be detrimental, and I feel like that’s what’s cost us.”

Mainoo, 18, also sent out a message on Instagram outlining his thoughts, before indicating he is already turning attention to next week’s match away at Bournemouth.

He wrote: “Good but not enough. See you next week Reds.”

Responses to Kobbie Mainoo

Kobbie Mainoo entered the season with one start and two substitute appearances to his name for Manchester United.

He has made 23 appearances so far this campaign, 20 starts, which is impressive considering injury delayed him featuring until late November.

Now an England international too, Mainoo now has three goals for United, and this was his first at Old Trafford.

He received a large number of responses, with Alejandro Garnacho among them. The Argentina international referred to Mainoo as the ‘main man’.

Watching how United’s midfield operates, he’s not wrong. Mainoo is the player United must protect and build around.
