Wolves interested in 'fantastic' 21-year-old for key position, one PL rival also keen - journalist

Wolves are reportedly interested in signing Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, but face competition from Newcastle United.

Wanderers are expected to have more freedom this summer when it comes to signing new players, which was not the case last summer.

Wolves were really restricted with what they could do in the last summer window because of financial problems, with a number of big names needing to be sold.

But it is thought Wolves should be able to do more this summer in terms of bringing players in, although at least one big sale is also likely to be made. For many, Pedro Neto will be that sale.

Seemingly, Wolves have eyes on bringing in a new goalkeeper, with Villarreal’s Filip Jorgensen a new target…

It has been reported by Matteo Moretto (via Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing) that Wolves are one of a few clubs keen on signing Villarreal’s goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen.

Jorgensen, a Denmark youth international, is said to have really shown his quality on the pitch this season across 30 appearances for the club.

Villarreal, who sit 10th in La Liga, have been poor defensively this season having conceded 53 league goals so far.

Only the bottom two clubs Almeria and Granada have shipped more, but Jorgensen has still caught the eye despite this.

Wolves are said to be following him closely, as are Newcastle United. But further clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus are said to have scouted him in recent times.

Jorgensen is described by Villarreal on their official website as ‘a young goalkeeper with a lot of promise and quality in between the sticks’. He also has ‘great size, excellent reflexes and fantastic footwork’, and is ‘a goalkeeper with impressive capabilities’.

Wolves seemingly really want a new goalkeeper

It is definitely starting to seem like Wolves will be bringing in a new goalkeeper this summer.

In recent weeks, it has been reported that Wanderers have been showing interest in Mile Svilar from AS Roma, and also Patrick Schulte of Columbus Crew.

It is unclear whether Wolves would want to bring in Jorgensen as a replacement for Jose Sa.

Sa has really stepped up for Wolves in recent weeks, and it is thought Gary O’Neil is not particularly keen to replace him.

However, money talks and there have been reports of interest from Saudi Arabia this season. A big offer might just tempt Wolves to sell.
