'Crazy': Jurgen Klopp says Liverpool did something vs Man United yesterday that he thought was impossible

Jurgen Klopp has been left surprised by what Liverpool did against Manchester United yesterday.

Yesterday, Jurgen Klopp will have wanted to bow out of his last game at Old Trafford on a high. The kind of high Liverpool’s manager has experienced plenty of times at the ‘Theatre of Dreams.’

Alas, it wasn’t to be. Instead, Klopp will have been left frustrated on the touchline as his Liverpool side struggled to get a result.

The Reds were simply not clinical enough in the final third. They missed big chances and made the wrong decisions.

In the end, they were fortunate enough to get a draw, with Harvey Elliott making a brilliant cameo appearance. His decisive run into the box made the difference and secured at least a point for Liverpool.

But it’s a point that Liverpool will have desperately wanted to turn into three. Harvey Elliott’s reaction after the final whistle pretty much sums up how we all felt after the game.

What Jurgen Klopp said after the game

In the Premier League title race, this felt like a significant blow in Liverpool’s endeavour to pip both Arsenal and Manchester City.

Coming to Old Trafford is always tough, but you would have expected Liverpool to get a win based on how Manchester United have performed this season.

To not get that victory will be bitterly disappointing for Liverpool.Especially since they completely dominated Manchester United.

The manner of domination even surprised Jurgen Klopp himself. The Liverpool boss seemed incredulous after the game in his post-match interviews.

“It was a crazy game,” Klopp told Viaplay.

“Playing as Liverpool at a Man United and being at half-time, 1-0 up and being 15-0 in shots. If you would tell me that’s possible I would say, no, no, no – don’t think so. But in a few moments as well we could have been clearer in the last pass and with the finish.”

Liverpool’s next seven fixtures in the Premier League title race

It’s not the end of the world for Liverpool. They are level on points with Arsenal on 71 points, and the Gunners still have to play away to Tottenham and Manchester United.

Meanwhile, they will face Aston Villa and Chelsea at home. That’s not an easy run in, and there will be points they could potentially drop from those games.

For Liverpool, they just have to concentrate on themselves. They still have some tough games to go, but the toughest is now probably out of the way.

These are Liverpool’s last seven Premier League matches as follows:

  • Crystal Palace (Home)
  • Fulham (Away)
  • Everton (Away)
  • West Ham (Away)
  • Tottenham (Home)
  • Aston Villa (Away)
  • Wolves (Home)
