WHAT’S UP TODAY

First up this morning in your Miami Hurricanes news?

Don’t miss Gary Ferman’s column taking a closer look at how all the new talent Miami acquired is fitting in and how that can impact future success and future recruiting. Gary also answers all your Week 4 of spring practice questions on the CaneSport message board.

Also note that the football team will be back on the field tomorrow, and we’ll continue to bring you full coverage of spring practice – you can check out all our coverage right here. We also had an update with DB Robert Stafford over the weekend that you can check out. And On3’s J.D. PicKell shares how he can see Miami with a top 10 team this year, and why. Plus ACC Network Analyst Roddy Jones joined On3’s Andy Staples to discuss Miami, and the conversation kicked off with a simple sentence that probably resonates for most Hurricanes fans: “I can never accurately predict Miami,” Staples said. Get that insight as well.

And don’t miss our interview with May arrival OJ Frederique, who is working hard to try and have an immediate impact on the cornerbacks room.

In recruiting? Plenty more news.

It starts with Ellaville (Ga.) Schley County five-star linebacker Zayden Walker. He visited over the weekend and we catch up with him as Miami continues to be a serious threat and a real contender for the No. 16 overall prospect and No. 2 linebacker in the On3 Industry Ranking.

Other key weekend visitors we had in-depth updates with were Tampa (Fla.) Sumner On300 offensive tackle Ziyare Addison, IMG Academy four-star linebacker Gavin Nix, Elkhart (Ind.) Elkhart Central top-50 EDGE Mariyon Dye, Sanford (Fla.) Seminole four-star interior offensive lineman Max Buchanan, 4-star Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei High School CB Daryus Dixson, Troy (Ala.) Enterprise 4-star EDGE Zion Grady, Kissimmee (Fla.) Osceola four-star linebacker/ Miami commit Elijah Melendez, Wildwood (Fla.) Jones top-100 receiver Vernell Brown III and Leesburg (Ga.) Lee County four-star 2025 running back Ousmane Kromah. If you want all the news in one place we also had your weekend recap here.

More updates:

Hammond (Ind.) Morton Senior wide receiver Lebron Hill has seen his recruitment pick up recently, and the Miami Hurricanes have become one of the latest programs to offer the rising junior. Get his thoughts.

We also catch up with Daingerfield (Tx.) 2026 ATH Mason Williams. His recruitment started with a Miami offer, his first.

Carrollton (Ga.) 2026 receiver Ryan Mosley had a big spring between playing at Atlanta’s 7-on-7 Pylon Tournament and landing an offer from Georgia, but landing a Miami offer in the closing days of March still made a significant impression. Learn where things stand there.

Fellowship Christian School (Ga.) 2025 wide receiver Evan Haynes has garnered national attention from several ACC programs, including the Miami Hurricanes, and shares where things stand.

We also catch up with 2026 prospect Justice Fitzpatrick, younger brother of Pittsburgh Steelers star safety Minkah Fitzpatrick. Both visited Miami last week and you don’t want to miss where things stand.

Plantation (Fla.) American Heritage On300 2026 receiver Jamar Denson made his way to Coral Gables for a visit and updates his status. So check that out, too.

Plus check out your recaps/reaction off the baseball team’s rough series at Duke, including blowing a 7-run lead in the 8th and a 3-run lead in the 11th and losing the finale.

There also was the news that Tricia Cullop was named the new Miami women’s basketball coach.

And, as always, stay tuned today for any news that may come up.

MESSAGE BOARD POST OF THE DAY

No Hurricanes projected in first two rounds of NFL Draft … Posted by eplanas

This only shows how poor the roster inherited by Mario was. Think the talent we are starting to acquire will improve the draft, but other than Ward – the elite talent was all true freshmen last year – e.g. Bain – so still a couple of years away from the draft. Players like Cooper, Restrepo, Kiko could be mid-round picks. Mesidor has the talent to be higher, but his injury history will limit his draft stock. Arroyo could get into middle rounds with a BIG season, but can’t expect that right now. The following draft when players like Bain, Mauigoa, Samson, Riley Williams, Popo and such become eligible may look much better if they develop properly.

MIAMI HURRICANES QUOTE OF THE DAY

“It meant the world to me knowing that I get the opportunity to play at the next level, all glory to God. It came more as a surprise. It was crazy!”
