Honey Boo Boo has branched out from her reality TV fame into becoming a budding nurse these days. The WeTV star appears alongside her family on Mama June: Family Crisis on Fridays and fans get to stay up to date with all the latest in Alana Thompson’s life. Some are fully backing Honey Boo Boo’s venture to college but more are expressing fears over her embarking into a career in nursing.
Since the days of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Alana Thompson and her family have been through all kinds of ups and downs. Mama June: Family Crisis viewers have seen many parts of the stars’ lives play out. The WeTV family sadly mourned the loss of Anna ‘Chickadee’ Cardwell last December and fans are seeing how her untimely passing took its toll. During the same time period, Alana was heading off to college to study nursing. Honey Boo Boo was living with her older sister, Lauryn ‘Pumpkin’ Efird, who supported her move to Colorado.
Honey Boo Boo set to study nursing
During Mama June: Family Crisis, Honey Boo Boo heads off to Denver, Colorado after graduating high school.
She decided to embark on studies rather than putting more into her reality TV and social media career.
Alana exclusively told ET of her future plans last year: “I am going to be a neonatal nurse at Regis University in Denver, Colorado.”
She received a scholarship to study at the university and moved States with her partner, Dralin Carswell.
Nursing is ‘tough’
Despite Honey Boo Boo having the full support of her sister, Pumpkin, embarking on her nursing studies, there are many viewers of the show who have their doubts on her choice of vocation.
Taking to a Reddit thread, one person commented: “I don’t know if Alana realizes the seriousness of the job.”
Another chimed in: “Nursing school is tough to get into and very competitive.”
And more commented: “Very demanding job. I really don’t think she understand how demanding such a job can be.”
More wrote how Alana’s pamper sessions might have to go out the window as nursing is no place for her trademark long acrylic nails.
However, the star has lots of supporters, too, who wrote: “I’m just happy that’s she’s getting out of Georgia & chasing her dreams unlike a lot of people.”
