Maci thinks of ‘leaving’ Teen Mom

Maci and her husband Taylor, who have been together since 2012, admit they often think of leaving Teen Mom. This is mainly down to her life being in the spotlight, which means she is “never left alone”.

She told In Touch Weekly: “I think I’ve just gotten to a point where, for me, it’s like, man, everything is just not what you see on the show. Every move we make is just so public.”

“Then everything with our kids is just so public. You can’t really go out in public and be left alone, which isn’t a bad thing,” Maci said, adding, “Even if we left reality TV, everything would still be so public.”

One drive that keeps her on TV

The main thing that keeps Maci Bookout on Teen Mom is how much she helps other young moms. She says she “might as well keep trying to help people” and “keep trying to put real stuff out there”.

With a goal to spread awareness of young parenthood, the reality star, who has shared her story since 2009, says, “Hopefully if it can help one person or one family, then [it] sounds good to me.”

The couple is currently starring on season 3 of Teen Mom: Family Reunion, where they’ve been able to work on bettering their relationship away from the kids, as they wanted to work on communication.

Hubby Taylor gets ‘overwhelmed’

Maci’s husband Taylor McKinney gets “overwhelmed” with the strict filming schedule for Teen Mom. He says filming days are often long but he and his wife “try to make the best of it.”

“When somebody comes up – and you can kind of lose sight of this – but somebody will come up in public and just say, ‘Hey, your guys’ story helps me a lot. I appreciate what you’re doing,’” he shares.

Taylor adds: “And I forget that sometimes. Because we’re just going through our everyday life that you forget that people watch and relate to it and it helps them.”
