Report: Key Inter Miami figure could now return to Spain just one year after joining

Inter Miami transformed last summer with the arrivals of Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba, yet another move off the pitch was the hiring of Antonio Chaves.

The former La Liga official joined the Herons after nearly 30 years of working with Celta Vigo, 15 of which were spent as director of the club as Chaves worked wonders in keeping the relatively small team up in the Spanish top-flight.

Yet last summer saw Chaves make the switch to Inter Miami, joining Messi and company in a newly-created presidential advisor role to assist Jorge Mas with matters surrounding the Herons.

Indeed, the appointment of Chaves has seemingly helped with Inter Miami since signing the likes of Luis Suarez, Julian Gressel and Marcelo Weigandt, yet a move to Spain could now be back on the cards already.

As reported by Radio Galega, talks are ongoing between Spanish side Real Zaragoza and Chaves in a deal that could see the Inter Miami official return to Spain this summer.

With Real Zaragoza one of the biggest clubs in the second-tier of Spanish soccer, taking over the reigns could be an appealing prospect for Chaves despite his current role at Inter Miami.

Moreover, given that Chaves is just an advisor with the MLS franchise, the idea of returning to the deep end with one of Spain’s most historic sides is tempting, especially with how successful the official was at Celta Vigo.

Although Chaves was at Inter Miami for just under a year, losing such a well-connected figure is going to sting for the Herons heading into the summer.

The Florida franchise have the chance to add to their squad even more in the coming months, with some big names already being linked with moves to Inter Miami.

Yet now it will all be about finding a new advisor to Mas, which in turn could lead to a number of successful moves in the months to come both on and off the pitch.
