Duncanville (Texas) five-star wide receiver Dakorien Moore pulled off a bit of a stunner last fall when he committed to LSU.
The decision came with very little leadup or fan fare, and at the time, the in-state Texas Longhorns were thought to be the favorites to land him. Brian Kelly and Co. pulled off a major recruiting coup by landing him, though, the first piece to the puzzle in LSU’s No. 2-ranked recruiting class.
Nearly eight months later, Moore is still pledged to the Tigers, but other programs are pursuing him heavily — namely Oregon, Ohio State and Texas. The Longhorns in particular have kept their foot on the gas, hosting him in Austin on multiple occasions. And one Texas insider believes Steve Sarkisian and Co. will ultimately flip Moore.
On Sunday, InsideTexas.com’s Eric Nahlin placed an expert pick in Texas’ favor to to poach Moore away from the Tigers.

“LSU has a very good class going for it but it doesn’t have the appeal of proximity and everything the in-state Horns have going for it,” Nahlin wrote. “No serious people took his early commitment to LSU as being set in stone. We’re now nearing the point where fact patterns truly matter. The current fact pattern points in UT’s favor.
… Often wide receivers are overrated by the networks but I have the same ‘click’ with Moore I had when Jaylen Waddle came out of high school. Obvious stud, obvious first round draft pick. Must-get. … The prediction is in and I have it at 65%.”
Moore is coming off his second visits in as many weekends to Austin and also plans to be back later this month for the Longhorns’ spring game. He and wide receivers coach Chris Jackson continue to build a strong bond, and he is expected to return for an official visit at the end of June.
“It’s the same things when I see them or talk on the phone,” Moore said of Jackson. “We have great conversations and just building our relationships. With Jackson, I just like his perspective on football. He has a knowledge of an NFL scout or NFL coach that he brings to help him with the high school and college level. I like coach Jackson a lot.”
Texas currently has five commitments in the 2025 class, headlined by four-star quarterback K.J. Lacey, who himself is recruiting Moore to flip to the program in Austin.
