Liverpool are on the hunt for a manager to replace Jurgen Klopp, and one of the names mentioned is Tottenham Hotspur boss Ange Postecoglou.
Jurgen Klopp announced weeks ago that he will step down as the Liverpool manager at the end of the season.
New Liverpool chief Michael Edwards is already working hard behind the scenes to bring in a suitable replacement.
As you would expect, nothing has been finalised with any manager yet, and it is unlikely that we will get any announcement on the matter until after the season has finished.
There has been speculation that Tottenham Hotspur head coach Ange Postecoglou is on the radar of Liverpool.
Spurs themselves are not concerned about losing Postecoglou at the end of the season, with sources telling HITC earlier that “the club is not worried”.
Former Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince has given his verdict on the Reds potentially trying to bring Postecoglou to Anfield.
The pundit has said that the former Celtic manager is good enough to manage Liverpool, but he does not see him leaving Tottenham at the end of the season, especially if the North London club finish in the top four of the Premier League table and qualify for the UEFA Champions League.
Paul Ince gives verdict on Ange Postecoglou potentially leaving Tottenham for Liverpool
Ince said on talkSPORT (6:27 pm, April 8, 2024) when asked if Postecoglou is good enough and big enough to manage Liverpool: “Well, I think if you look at the way he presents himself, I think he could deal with the pressure of managing such a massive club like Liverpool and dealing with the circumstances of replacing Jurgen Klopp, for sure.
“Just the way he carries himself, the way you see him talk in public, he is calm, he doesn’t seem to get too irate too quickly.
“So, could I see him at Liverpool? Yes. Will he leave Tottenham to go there? Not yet. I think he has got a project there, especially if they get the Champions League, why would you leave Tottenham?”
Ange Postecoglou has transformed Tottenham Hotspur
I am not at all surprised that Liverpool have been linked with Ange Postecoglou. He has been superb for Tottenham Hotspur and has absolutely transformed the North London club.
Under superstar managers Jose Mourinho and Antonio Conte, Spurs did not play the kind of attacking and exciting football that they are playing under Postecoglou right now.
And, Tottenham are getting positive results too. There is a very good chance that Spurs will end up fourth in the Premier League table this season.
Tottenham do not have Harry Kane in their squad, yet they are above the likes of Manchester United, Newcastle United and Chelsea in the Premier League table at the moment.
It shows just how good a job Postecoglou has done at Spurs.
