'Idols': Chelsea star sends Instagram message to Inter Miami's Lionel Messi

Inter Miami struck gold in signing Lionel Messi, with the superstar’s influence on social media platforms such as Instagram a real boost for the MLS franchise.

One of two people on the platform with over 500 million followers, Messi’s status as one of the most famous people on the planet is one that has helped Inter Miami massively in terms of growing its brand.

Messi playing for the Herons has also drawn attraction from other A-list celebrities to take an interest in Inter Miami, with last weekend alone seeing Daddy Yankee attend their 2-2 draw with the Colorado Rapids.

Another big name who met Messi was UFC champion Ilia Topuria, who posted on Instagram a few pictures with the Inter Miami and Argentina superstar.

And amongst the comments was Chelsea superstar Enzo Fernandez, who replied with “idols” as another huge name in sports got the pleasure to meet Messi whilst at Inter Miami.

A key member of Argentina’s 2022 FIFA World Cup winning squad, it’s easy to forget that Fernandez remains one of the most important players to feature alongside Messi in his sensational career.

Whilst the midfielder’s fortunes at Chelsea are hardly going to plan, it’s clear that Fernandez remains close to Messi, who this summer will want to help the Argentina captain end his international career on a high.

With Messi away from Inter Miami duty this summer to feature for Argentina in what might be his final competition for the South American nation, a lot will be riding on the likes of Fernandez to deliver.

The Chelsea midfielder will be aware of how much Messi wants to win the Copa America one last time before riding into the sunset in what has been a truly outstanding international career.

Given that Argentina are the favorites, there will be a pressure of sorts for Messi and friends to deliver, with the Inter Miami star in need of one last major honour in his international trophy cabinet.
