Russian occupiers decided to simulate an attack on the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant using drones. They attempted to blame Ukrainian defenders for this, according to a statement from Andrii Yusov, a representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

He mentioned that there is currently a new wave of provocations from Russia regarding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. There is nothing new about this. The purpose of such provocations is to blame Ukraine.

Yusov reminded that it was the Russians who occupied the Zaporizhzhia NPP and deployed troops and equipment there, replacing the territory of the station, and regularly carry out launches of attack drones there.

"Today, Russia decided to simulate shelling allegedly from the side of Ukraine using FPV drones. Ukraine's position is clear - we do not take any actions or provocations against nuclear facilities. The aggressor must leave the nuclear power plant," added the representative of the Main Directorate of Intelligence.

What preceded

On April 7th, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that a drone exploded on the territory of the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant. The IAEA recorded at least three hits on the protective shell of the station's reactor.

In turn, the Russians began accusing Ukrainian defenders of the attack. The enemy claimed a "series of attacks" on the Zaporizhzhia NPP, allegedly resulting in casualties and damage to a truck.

In response to such fantasies from Russia, Energoatom stated that accusations against Ukraine are Moscow's attempt to conceal its own intentions.
