Arsenal fail to stop Harry Kane but Tottenham influence destroys Bayern Munich in Champions League

Tottenham fans had a vested interest in Arsenal's Champions League quarter-final against Bayern Munich and may have felt they were on course for a mini-victory when Harry Kane put the Bundesliga side in front before the break.

Arsenal huffed and puffed in the second half as Bayern held firm, but the German side were ultimately undone after a mistake from Eric Dier.

The former Spurs centre-back flew into a challenge on Gabriel Jesus inside the box and missed before the Brazilian laid the ball off to Leandro Trossard in space to score an equaliser.

Kane bore the brunt of the abuse from the Arsenal crowd at the start of the match and they were quick to mock the 30-year-old when Bukayo Saka opened the scoring for the hosts.

Cameras panned to Kane immediately after Saka's effort hit the back of the net with the England striker looking forlorn.

However, Arsenal's good mood didn't last long as Serge Gnabry equaliser minutes later for the visitors.

Things went from bad to worse for Mikel Arteta's side when Leroy Sane had the Arsenal defence backpeddling with a darting run into the box.

William Saliba eventually fouled the Germany international in the box with Kane grabbing the ball for the spot-kick.

Arsenal fans behind the goal tried everything to put Kane off, but the experienced striker kept his eye on the ball throughout and sent David Raya the wrong way with a confident finish.
