‘Fantastic’: Martin Keown says Arsenal have made one of the best bargain signings he’s seen

Arsenal’s work in the transfer window over the past two years has been incredible.

The north London club have made some truly transformative signings in recent times with the likes of Declan Rice, Kai Havertz and David Raya all making huge impacts after signing in the summer.

However, you’d find it hard to call any of those players bargains.

Indeed, while they’re all talented footballers, almost £200m combined for those three players doesn’t necessarily represent incredible value for money.

That being said, Arsenal do know how to sniff out a bargain, and speaking on TNT Sports, Martin Keown has claimed that the Gunners have made one of the biggest bargain signings he’s seen recently.

Arsenal’s bargain hunt

Keown spoke about Leandro Trossard after his goal against Bayern Munich and how much of a bargain he was.

“Look at this, he sits him down and then Trossard just floats in there, he’s done that so often for Arsenal. Mudryk was going to come in from Chelsea, instead they got him for £21m, and where do you get more value for money than him by the way? A fantastic finish,” Keown said.

Leandro Trossard was an incredible signing

Leandro Trossard may well be the best signing Arsenal have made during the Mikel Arteta era.

The Belgian didn’t cost much at all and he’s made a massive impact since arriving.

What’s more though is that the alternative for Arsenal was a bank-breaking deal for Mykhaylo Mudryk, and after the Ukrainian’s difficult 18 months at Chelsea, it’s fair to say that Arsenal had a lucky escape on that front.

Trossard has stepped up time and time again for Arsenal in the big moments, and as Keown says, it’s hard to think of many better value for money signings in the Premier League in recent years.

Trossard was an absolute bargain, that’s for sure.
