16-year-old Man Utd wonderkid now spotted in first-team training for the first time

The conveyor belt at Carrington just keeps churning out incredible talents, now one has been spotted in Manchester United training.

It’s been a season which has belonged to the academy at Manchester United, for various reasons.

It’s seen the first team dominated by the likes of Kobbie Mainoo and Alejandro Garnacho, both of whom have become star players.

Meanwhile, the academy has been immaculate, with the U18s running away with their league in dominant fashion.

It’s a testament to how brilliant Carrington is, and there is a seemingly endless list of prospects who are supremely talented right now just waiting for their chance.

Now one of them has been spotted in first-team training for the first time.

Shea Lacey spotted in first-team training for Manchester United

On Wednesday morning, Sky Sports shared a video of Manchester United in training which clearly showed Shea Lacey to be back in the fold, but surprisingly at a senior level.

The 16-year-old gem has been out for most of this season with an injury he picked up in late October.

He is still awaiting his return to academy football but seems to be at the forefront of Erik ten Hag‘s thinking with a call into the senior squad.

While it could just be for Ten Hag to get a closer look at him, he’ll likely be blown away by Lacey who is tipped by many to be the best prospect at the club.

Turning 17 on Sunday, it wouldn’t be a great surprise to see Lacey considered for a cameo or debut toward the end of this season, if the Champions League chase looks impossible.

Lacey is the latest in a long line of U18 talents to be seen in first-team training as the group is clearly getting a lot of exposure with hopes high for their careers.

When will Lacey return to action?

Lacey has been out for nearly six months now, with his return expected to be imminent – although it was been for a month now.

In March, Lacey shared a post which hinted he’d soon be back in action which delighted supporters who remain excited by the talent he possesses.

Now seeing him in senior training, it’d be safe to assume he’ll be back potentially even this weekend as it seems an unnecessary risk unless he was back to being fully fit.

We cannot wait to see him back on the pitch playing, as he’s missed so much football this year that he’ll now want to make up for lost time, and remind everyone just how good he is.

All being well, we’d hope to see Lacey feature to some degree this pre-season, even if it isn’t properly on the US Tour.
