Milutin Osmajic continues bizarre Preston North End goalscoring quirk

Preston North End produced a rousing second-half display to come from behind and beat Huddersfield Town 4-1 on Tuesday night.

This was a must-win game for North End after picking up just one point from two away games at Huddersfield Town and Watford.

PNE started slowly though and fell behind to the relegation-threatened Terriers when Josh Koroma opened the scoring.

A soft penalty handed PNE a chance to get level and Will Keane – the man brought down – stepped up to slot home.

The game then became the Milutin Osmajic show as the striker came off the bench to rattle home an incredible hat-trick.

The Montenegrin fired in from a Duane Holmes pass before racing clear to convert Alan Browne’s through ball.

Osmajic completed his ridiculous seven-minute hat-trick from a Mads Frøkjær-Jensen pass, securing a 4-1 victory.

Milutin Osmajic continues Town End run

Osmajic had only scored one goal since November before stepping onto the pitch on Tuesday night.

This season has been one of ups and downs for Osmajic, who started his PNE career in promising fashion before a November injury halted his momentum.

Add in that this is his first season in English football and he is still learning the language and we have always called for patience over his performances.

Osmajic showed the kind of quality he can provide in the final third with that hat-trick on Tuesday, taking his tally for the season to eight goals.

That is not a bad return but the strange thing is that all of those goals have come in front of the Town End at Deepdale.

Osmajic’s first PNE goal came in front of the Town End against Birmingham City back in September, sparking one of the more bizarre runs we have ever seen at Deepdale.

Then it was a volley lashed home from edge of the box against Southampton before a header against Coventry City in November.

Osmajic then raced clear in front of the Town End to score against Cardiff City but had to wait until March for his next goal, another header in front of the Town End, this time against Stoke City.

On Tuesday night, all three of Osmajic’s goals came at the same end to continue his run of only scoring in front of the stand named after Alan Kelly Senior.

It’s quite the quirk that Osmajic hasn’t even scored at the other end of Deepdale, never mind any other stadium in the country.

For all eight goals to be at the same end is truly bizarre but Osmajic will be delighted with his growing reputation as the Town End king.
