Arsenal told they have a truly 'sublime' talent in their ranks who's like Thierry Henry in front of goal

Arsenal were in Champions League action on Tuesday night as they welcomed Bayern Munich to the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners, fresh from returning to the top of the Premier League table, were hoping to also make progress in Europe’s premier club competition.

Arsenal got off to the best possible start, scoring through Bukayo Saka in the 12th minute of the match.

Ben White was the provider, feeding his 22-year-old teammate inside the box with a diagonal pass.

Saka then curled a superb finish into the far corner of Bayern’s net, beyond a full-stretch Manuel Neuer.

Sky Sports pundit and former Arsenal academy talent Steve Sidwell loved what he saw from Saka.

What did Steve Sidwell say about Bukayo Saka goal for Arsenal?

“It’s like a Thierry Henry finish from Saka,” he said on Soccer Special after the England international broke the deadlock.

Sky Sports journalist Nick Wright added: “Sublime from Saka. Neuer was at full-stretch but couldn’t get there. Lift-off for Arsenal. What a start.”

Arsenal sadly failed to hang on to their lead, with Serge Gnabry equalising following a Gabriel Magalhaes error in the build-up.

Harry Kane then put Bayern ahead by scoring a penalty which Gabriel’s fellow centre-back William Saliba conceded.

However, Arsenal were able to salvage a draw thanks to a late Leandro Trossard goal following good work from Gabriel Jesus.

What did Steve Sidwell think of Arsenal penalty shout?

The Gunners then thought they had a solid penalty shout in injury-time after Saka went to ground under pressure from Manuel Neuer in the box.

However, referee Glenn Nyberg refused to award a spot kick, leading to remonstrations from the Gunners contingent, including Saka himself.

Sidwell actually agreed with the official’s decision, saying: “I think Saka puts his foot into Neuer. He’s clever. I think the referee has absolutely nailed this. It’s a great call.”

And so the tie remains evenly poised going into the second leg. Both Arsenal and Bayern will fancy their chances of progressing.

Saka will certainly hope to make another huge impact once again and get that little bit closer to lifting the Champions League, which would certainly cement his ‘world-class’ status.
