Histon manager Chris Nunn shoulders responsibility for heavy away defeat at Leicester Nirvana

Histon endured an afternoon to forget during Saturday’s clash against Leicester Nirvana.

With the home side’s pitch deemed unplayable, at late notice the fixture was switched to the nearby venue of Kirby Muxloe Football Club with a later 4.45pm kick off.

But despite the upheaval, relegation-threatened Nirvana took it all in their stride as they ran out 5-1 winners.

Orrin Carter-Fell’s 13th-minute goal set Nirvana on their way before further strikes from Gregory Mills and Daryl Russell handed them a healthy advantage heading into the break.

Connor Barnes gave the visiting Stutes a lifeline shortly after the hour mark, but Shaquille Master’s late double wrapped up the victory for Nirvana.

Histon boss Chris Nunn wrote on X: “As a manager I got it wrong today, five changes and change of formation didn’t work.

“We were well beaten, but seven wins from nine games is still good going. Leicester Nirvana fully deserved their win.”

Tenth-placed Histon will look to bounce back in their final home game of the 2023/24 season against Cogenhoe United on Saturday (13 April).
