Within a few weeks, Russia may outnumber Ukraine 10 to 1 in terms of artillery shells, according to the statement of General Christopher Cavoli.

Cavoli warned Congress that the war in Ukraine has reached a critical moment, where Russia could achieve a 10 to 1 advantage in artillery shells “within weeks” if the United States does not approve additional military support for the government in Kyiv.

“The severity of this moment cannot be overstated,” General said.

According to Cavoli, without additional US support, Ukraine will run out of artillery shells and air defense equipment.

“The side that can’t shoot back loses,” he said.

US assistance to Ukraine

The United States has practically halted military aid to Ukraine for several months. The reason is that the Congress has not passed a bill with appropriate funding.

In February, the Senate approved a document that proposed to allocate about $60 billion to help Ukraine. However, it got stalled in the House of Representatives.

House Speaker Mike Johnson refuses to put the initiative to a vote. He is proposing to change some of the bill's provisions, in particular, those related to loan assistance.

Recently, Politico wrote that the administration of US President Joe Biden is in talks with Johnson to advance the bill with funds for Ukraine.
