HBO Max has finally released the We’re Here season 4 trailer, where a budding politician reveals to the Drag Race cast how his home was shot at “for being a gay drag queen” and “running for office”.
This season, the RuPaul’s Drag Race queens work with participants in Murfreesboro, Tennessee and Tulsa, Oklahoma, as well as in surrounding towns. One of the stars is a budding politician and drag queen hitting back.
We’re Here politician recalls shooting
The We’re Here season 4 trailer shows an interview with a local hopeful politician, who was shot at in their own home for being “a gay drag queen who’s running for office,” in a terrifying scene.
They showed the cast the exact bullet hole in their wardrobe, to the left of the bed they sleep in at night, before a scene cuts to the openly gay politician crying while looking down in fear.
The trailer features a young girl calling the queer community an “LGBTQ religion” and her father saying it’s a “cult”. The drag queens also face getting arrested as they advocate for more LGBTQ support.
Early on during the filming process, co-hosts Priyanka and Sasha Velour – who weren’t in drag at the time – were hounded by “a truck full of white men” who “screamed” at them, as told to Pink News.
“Typically, when we’re shooting the show, the cameras are around. The camera was there, the crew was there, and they were still [shouting] ‘F*****s. It was and is scary,” she added.
We’re Here’s ‘important’ comeback
One fan wrote, “Cant wait!! These stories are so important now more than ever.” Another said, “The ignorance on display and these queens in spite of it all to do their thing is bravery of the highest order.”
