Ruben Amorim wants to bring four players to Liverpool if he is appointed as manager

Ruben Amorim could bring as many as four players from Sporting CP to Liverpool if he was appointed as manager.

Ruben Amorim seems to be the flavour of the month at Liverpool right now. The 39-year-old Portuguese manager has a brilliant proven track record in his five years in management so far.

It includes winning a cup with Braga, delivering a league title at Sporting CP for the first time in 19-years, and being on course to repeat that feat this season.

Undoubtedly, Amorim is still young and learning his trade, but with that kind of track record, he is definitely ready to make the step-up to Anfield.

If he does, he might want to bring in some of his own players. Especially since he has a very particular way of playing.

Who are the four players Ruben Amorim could sign from Sporting CP?

When Jurgen Klopp was appointed in charge of Liverpool, he was reluctant to bring in his former players from Borussia Dortmund.

The German respected his club on that occasion. But when he was younger, he wasn’t like that either. At Dortmund, he brought in a couple of his former players from Mainz, including Neven Subotic.

Amorim is still young, and in the early stages of his career, it would also make sense to work with players he already trusts.

That is why it’s no surprise that Jornal de Noticias in Portugal have reported that Amorim could potentially eye as many as four players from Sporting CP.

Those players are Ousmane Diomande, Goncalo Inacio, Marcus Edwards and Morten Hjulmand.

Why Goncalo Inacio makes the most sense for Liverpool

Out of the four players, the name that sticks out the most is Inacio. If Amorim is to deploy his three at the back system at Anfield he will need more centre-backs.

Particularly a left-sided centre-back, which is the role Inacio plays in his current system right now.

Inacio is also a player Amorim really trusts. He gave the defender his debut at Sporting CP, and Inacio has become a linchpin of Amorim’s side ever since.

Moving to Liverpool, who were already looking at him before talk of Amorim’s appointment, would be a natural progression for Inacio.
