Bishop’s Stortford lose 4-0 at Rushall Olympic in National League North

Both teams finished with 10 men as Bishop’s Stortford lost 4-0 at Rushall Olympic in Vanarama National League North on Tuesday (April 9).

The relegated Blues had Lordon Akolbire dismissed 10 minutes into the second half and the hosts, who moved three points clear of the relegation zone, had Ronan Maher sent off at the death, both for two bookings.

Bottom side Stortford, who are back in action at 14th-placed Buxton this Saturday (April 13) have now conceded 110 league goals at an average of 2.5 per game.

The Pics went ahead in the first minute when Owen Farmer found the top corner from 20 yards out.

They doubled their lead in the 29th minute as Owen Oseni netted a rebound after his initial effort had been saved by Blues goalkeeper and captain Jack Giddens.

The away side were reduced to 10 men early in the second period when Akolbire picked up his second yellow card for a clumsy foul on the edge of the area.

The hosts notched a third goal in the 62nd minute as Oseni completed his brace with a low finish across Giddens.

Stortford had a few chances to reduce the arrears with efforts from Fraser Alexander and Kane Crichlow.

But substitute Joey Butlin wrapped up the win for the Pics with an 89th-minute strike before Maher received his second caution in the fourth minute of added time.
