Noel Gallagher reveals bold 'gut' feeling about Arsenal and Man City in title race

Musician and Manchester City fan Noel Gallagher has now made a bold claim about what he expects from Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

Arsenal are currently in the midst of an incredibly tight Premier League title race.

The Gunners are currently sat at the top of the Premier League table with 31 matches played. However, they are only ahead of Liverpool on goal difference, whilst reigning champions Manchester City are lurking just one point behind.

Jamie Carragher has set a points target for Arsenal to become champions. Mikel Arteta will be well aware that if his side are to come out on top at the end of the season, then they have almost no margin for error available to them. The North London club will have to be practically perfect for rest of the campaign.

The challenges facing Arsenal in Premier League title race

The Gunners’ recent form suggests that they may well have what it takes to get the job done, though. They have not lost a game in the Premier League since their mid-season break in January. Arteta took his Arsenal squad to Dubai in the New Year, which allowed the Spanish coach to get some vital work done with his players on the training pitch.

However, many will still consider the Gunners to be underdogs in the title race this season. Liverpool and Manchester City both hold an advantage over Arsenal in that they have both won the title in recent years under their current managers. Arsenal, meanwhile, have not won the top flight of English football for twenty years.

There are plenty of challenges ahead for Arteta’s men if they are to achieve their goal. They face a tough test up against Aston Villa on Sunday at the Emirates Stadium. Unai Emery’s side have everything to play for as they are currently fighting it out with Tottenham Hotspur for a top four finish.

On top of that, the Gunners will need to balance their Premier League ambitions with their Champions League commitments. On April 17th they travel to Germany to take on Bayern Munich in the second-leg of their quarter-final clash with the tie delicately balanced at 2-2 on aggregate.

Noel Gallagher backs Arsenal over his own Manchester City

The data says that Arsenal face a harder Premier League run-in that Manchester City and Liverpool. Their European exploits will drain them emotionally and physically. This young Arsenal squad has never gotten over the line before.

Despite these factors, Noel Gallagher is convinced that they can achieve Premier League glory. Speaking on talkSPORT, the former Oasis man said, “my gut…I look at Arsenal and I think they’re barely conceding a corner let alone goals, let alone dropping points. As you know yourself, the best defence ordinarily wins the league and they’re just not giving anything up.”

“Obviously I want Man City to win it. If I was a betting man, I’ve got a sneaky suspicion that the table is going to end the way it is now and I think Arsenal nick it on goal difference.”

“That’s the way I see it because we’re waiting now for the two of them to drop points…and I look at Arsenal and every week you’re thinking, ‘Well this is the time when they implode.’ I’m looking at it and thinking, ‘They’re just rock solid.’”
