King's Lynn manager Rob Lyon admits he can’t wait to see his side get into a regular rhythm of racing after a weather-affected start to the season.
The Stars are finally set to appear at home tonight (Thursday) against Belle Vue after their first two matches at the Adrian Flux Arena were postponed.
It meant they had to kick their heels during a three-week gap since their first match at Leicester, but the remainder of this month is set to see them much busier.
They hit the road next week with tough trips to Belle Vue (Monday) and Sheffield (Thursday), whilst the Tigers head to Norfolk on April 22 with Stars also due to visit Oxford in a fortnight.
And that run of fixtures should start to indicate the genuine prospects of a team which has been well received so far, at least on paper.
Lyon said: “It’s going to feel rather like starting the season all over again, because we had a week in March which was pretty hectic and then everything stopped.
“I was up in Newcastle on a personal matter on Monday, then I was back down to King’s Lynn on Tuesday for press and practice, then we were in Manchester on Wednesday for the Premiership media day, and then Leicester on Thursday.
“Since then we’ve had nothing because of the weather, which of course you can’t control, and the club made the correct decisions. There was nothing to gain by attempting to run those meetings.
“Fortunately all of the guys have been doing some racing abroad and getting some meetings in, so it’s not like they haven’t done anything.
“And although they haven’t been on our track since press day, pretty much all the guys we signed in our team, maybe apart from (Patryk) Wojdylo, have got King’s Lynn track knowledge anyway and are comfortable with it.
“It’s not been an ideal situation but we have to live with it, and hopefully we can pick up some points over the coming weeks.”
New dates have been arranged for the Stars’ two postponed home fixtures. T
They will now host Birmingham at the Adrian Flux Arena on Thursday, May 2, whilst Leicester have been slotted into the calendar on Monday, July 15.
That will be the Lions’ second visit of the season as they are also in town on May 9 as scheduled for what becomes the Round 1 encounter.
