Kai Havertz is in fantastic form at the moment, there’s no doubt about that.
The German has been electric in recent weeks, he’s been banging in the goals, and his all-round play has really improved as well.
There’s been plenty of praise for Havertz as of late, but Chris Sutton has taken issue with one thing he’s heard said about the Arsenal star on the Fantasy 606 Podcast.
Chris Sutton disagrees with Kai Havertz suggestion
Sutton and his co-host spoke about Havertz, and Sutton disagreed with the view that Havertz has been playing the best football of his career recently, pointing towards his time at Bayer Leverkusen as a stronger spell.
“I’ve watched a lot of Kai Havertz over the past week or two, I think I’ve watched over 5,000 minutes of Kai Havertz, and he’s playing the best football of his career right now,” The host said.
“5,000 minutes? That’s over half a week? It’s a bit lame as well to say he’s playing the best football of his career. Leverkusen? You’ve just chucked that out there because he’s had a good few weeks haven’t you?
Kai Havertz has room to improve
Sutton is right, this isn’t the best spell of Havertz’s career – that came over in Germany, but the exciting thing about that is that Havertz may still have room to improve.
Indeed, Havertz has proven in the past that he can be even more prolific than he has been this season, and if he can rediscover that sort of form in an Arsenal shirt, he could genuinely be unstoppable.
Havertz has improved massively for Arsenal, and he deserves huge credit for his recent performances, but he should still be aiming to return to the levels he once showed at Bayer Leverkusen as a young player.
If Havertz can get back to those levels he showed at Leverkusen, he could genuinely be one of the better players in the Premier League.
