Slovakia supports Ukraine's EU accession - Fico

Slovakia will not obstruct Ukraine's path to the European Union (EU). Bratislava wants to assist Kyiv in integration, states Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico during a briefing with his Ukrainian counterpart, Denys Shmyhal.

According to Fico, his country will participate in the Global Peace Summit, which will take place in Switzerland from June 15 to 16.

Summarizing the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Fico stated that the parties today approved a roadmap for cooperation between the countries. In particular, the Prime Minister condemned Russian aggression, stating that the invasion violated international agreements. He added that Kyiv and Bratislava can cooperate in humanitarian and civilian spheres.

Additionally, the Prime Minister expressed support for Ukraine on its path to the EU.

"We are not a country that will obstruct your path. On the contrary, we want to help," Fico assured.

Shmyhal's visit to Slovakia

Today, April 11, the Prime Minister of Ukraine visited Slovakia and met with its political leadership. As Shmyhal noted, cooperation in the fields of energy, logistics, trade, and support for the Peace Formula of the President of Ukraine was on the agenda.

Meanwhile, Bratislava offered Ukraine assistance in demining territories.
