'Didn't train today': 27-year-old has hamstring issue ahead of Chelsea vs Everton

Chelsea will be looking to build on their last home win when they take on Everton at Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Chelsea beat Manchester United 4-3 in a Premier League thriller last week, with Cole Palmer scoring a hat-trick on the night.

They were unable to follow that up with a win when they took on Sheffield United, drawing 2-2 with Chris Wilder’s side at Bramall Lane.

It was a setback for them in their bid to qualify for the Europa League, but with Mauricio Pochettino‘s men only five points behind sixth-placed Manchester United, the race is still on.

Ahead of Monday’s game between Chelsea and Everton, both teams have injury problems.

Chelsea and Everton injury news

Palmer was taken off in Chelsea’s recent draw with Sheffield United, but Pochettino confirmed it was not injury related.

The Argentine was also without Ben Chilwell, but the left-back is expected to return for the Everton game.

The likes of Reece James, Christopher Nkunku and Romeo Lavia are long-term absentees.

As for Everton, Sean Dyche told BBC Sport and other outlets in his pre-match press conference earlier that Dominic Calvert-Lewin “didn’t train today”.

The 27-year-old is suffering with a small hamstring issue so they are just trying to be careful with him, according to Dyche. As things stand, then, he should be available for the trip to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea vs Everton score prediction

Chelsea have scored quite a few goals of late, but they have also conceded a lot.

Considering that, even with Dyche being quite a safe and defensive manager, there could be goals in this one.

The Blues need all three points here to keep the pressure on Manchester United.

It is not impossible, then, that we see a 3-2 win for Chelsea. More goals, more terrible defending and maybe another Cole Palmer penalty. They are all the things that you can expect at the Bridge these days.
