"Modi Cabinet could have lovely reunion in Tihar": Congress' launches attack over 'electoral bond scam'

New Delhi [India], April 11 (ANI): Congress general secretary-in-charge of communications, Jairam Ramesh, launched fresh attacks on the central government regarding the electoral bond scheme.

Calling out the Prime Minister's guarantee vowing to jail those indulged in corruption, the Congress leader claimed 'the Modi Cabinet could have a lovely reunion in Tihar'

"The Prime Minister has given a "guarantee" that the corrupt will go to jail. Remember that the #PayPM Scam saw four channels of corruption: Pre-paid Bribes: Chanda Do, Dhanda Lo, Post paid Bribes: Theka Lo, Rishvat Do, Post-raid Extortion: Hafta Vasuli through ED/IT Raids, Farzi Companies," Jairam Ramesh said in a post on X.

"Will the people responsible for overseeing this legalised corruption also go to jail? The Modi Cabinet could have a lovely reunion in Tihar! #ElectoralBondScam," he added.

The Electoral Bond Scheme was a way for political parties in India to get money without revealing the donor's identity. Supreme Court, in a ruling in February, struck down the Centre's Electoral Bond Scheme and asked the SBI to stop issuing electoral bonds immediately.

In compliance with a directive from the Supreme Court, the Election Commission of India (ECI) recently uploaded data on electoral bonds on its official website. The data was provided by State Bank of India (SBI) on the directions of the apex court. (ANI)
