'Love it': Salomon Rondon absolutely buzzing over news out of Newcastle earlier today

Newcastle United have announced that Joelinton has signed a new long-term contract at St James’ Park.

The Magpies confirmed on their website and social media channels that the Brazil international has put pen to paper on a new deal.

Newcastle and Joelinton had been locked in negotiations over a new deal for a few months, according to reports.

Indeed, there were some concerns among fans that the injury he suffered back in January could’ve meant he had played his last game for the Magpies.

However, that is not the case, with Joelinton committing his future to Newcastle with a new contract of undisclosed length.

Newcastle shared the news on their Instagram account, tagging Joelinton himself and the Premier League.

Plenty of fans congratulated the 27-year-old in the comments, as well as some of his peers, such as former Magpies loanee Salomon Rondon.

What has Salomon Rondon been doing since leaving Newcastle United?

Rondon enjoyed a fruitful loan spell at Newcastle in 2018-19, registering 12 goals and seven assists from 33 outings in black and white.

He won the Player of the Season award, the first forward to get the accolade since Alan Shearer in 2003.

Rondon enjoyed his time at St James’ Park and, in 2020, revealed to The Guardian that he would’ve joined them again if he was given the chance.

The 34-year-old went on to play for Dalian Professional, CSKA Moscow, Everton and River Plate after leaving Newcastle. He’s currently with Mexican side Pachuca.
