Report: What Manchester City were really worried about just before their 3-3 draw vs Real Madrid kicked off

It has been revealed that Manchester City suffered a health scare ahead of their 3-3 draw against Real Madrid.

It began right before the contest, with Pep Guardiola revealing [via HaytersTV] that Kevin De Bruyne was unwell and he was throwing up in the dressing room.

As a result, De Bruyne could not face the Spanish giants as his misfortune continued in the Champions League.

After being injured in both of the finals he has played in, the midfield maestro now could now go toe-to-toe with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabeu due to feeling ill.

While the game turned out to be box-office with City’s dressing room potentially being happier after the clash, football fans around the world would have been spoilt if De Bruyne was on the pitch as well.

What City were fearful of before their 3-3 draw against Real Madrid

The hosts had superstars galore, such as Vinicius Junior, Jude Bellingham, Toni Kroos and Rodrygo on the pitch to name a few.

As for the visitors, the likes of Erling Haaland, Phil Foden, Jack Grealish and Rodri were some of their biggest names.

Simultaneously, the battle of the managerial masterminds, Pep Guardiola and Carlo Ancelotti were set to go head-to-head.

Unsurprisingly, the contest did not disappoint whatsoever but De Bruyne was missed.

But ahead of the match, the Sky Blues were fearful of the potential of a certain event.

In what has been described as a potential “food poisoning shocker” by the Daily Star, Manchester City were “worried” that more of their squad would succumb to illness like Kevin De Bruyne ahead of their clash against Real Madrid.

The report has stated that De Bruyne believes that his illness stemmed from a certain item he ate in the team hotel a few hours before the first leg of the Champions League quarter-final.

Luckily, De Bruyne was the only player who was affected and he has since returned to training.
