Another Celtic favourite announced as European giants prepare to descend upon Parkhead

Celtic fans will have an additional opportunity to watch some of their heroes in action at Paradise once the Scottish Premiership season concludes.

On the 26th of May, the day following the Scottish Cup final at Hampden, something we will hopefully be involved in, Celtic Legends take on a selection of Borussia Dortmund icons at Parkhead in a charity match organised by the Celtic FC Foundation. Kick-off is at 2 pm.

Funds raised from the occasion will be distributed among various organisations committed to supplying food provision amid the cost-of-living crisis in the UK & Ireland.

Dundee Cancer Centre at Ninewells Hospital will also receive a donation, with tickets widely available to purchase via the official Celtic website.

So far, we know that Paul Lambert and Tom Boyd are set to be in the dugout; meanwhile, Scott Brown will pull on the captain’s armband once again.

Fan favourites Emilio Izaguirre and Gary Hooper have also been included in our squad, evoking some fond memories of the recent past.

Joe Ledley announced for Celtic vs Borussia Dortmund match

Former Celtic midfielder Joe Ledley is the latest high-profile name to be announced as part of the Legends squad for the Borussia Dortmund match, adding to the already-confirmed contingent that starred during the 2010s at Parkhead.

The ex-Wales international won three league titles and a Scottish Cup at Parkhead, registering 30 goals and 24 assists in 156 appearances for the Bhoys [Transfermarkt].

Regarding his emotional return to Parkhead, Ledley said that being asked to play at Parkhead once more is an ‘absolute honour’ he can’t wait for as we build towards an exciting day of action.

He stated [Celtic FC]: “I can’t wait. I’ve actually been to watch a game once or twice, and I took my kids on a tour there as well, but finally coming back and playing will be an absolute honour.

“I’ve always said since I came back down south and told people the memories I have – it’s the best stadium and the best crowd I’ve ever witnessed and I’ve ever played for.

“I’m sure there will be plenty of memories which will come flooding back to me and it’ll be quite emotional as well, going back and putting the jersey on again.’

“It’s been such a long time, but we’ve had some great memories in the past, and it’s a fantastic honour to represent Celtic again and play in the stadium, see the fans and see not just former players and team-mates, but also people inside the stadium behind the scenes – to see them again will be great.”

On what promises to be an exciting day at Paradise, expect more Celtic heroes to be announced in due course over the coming weeks.
