Lauren Boebert's son whines about lawyer 'prices' in 'crime spree' case: 'Been kinda hard'

Rep. Lauren Boebert's (R-CO) son, Tyler, appeared in court on Thursday following his arrest for a crime spree that included committing I.D. theft, explaining he was stressed for cash to pay a private attorney, according to Westword.

Boebert, 19, who faces felonies for criminal possession of identity documents, informed the judge of his money woes.

"We are working to hire an attorney, but it's just been kind of hard with the prices," Tyler told 9th Judicial District Judge John Neiley. "Worst case scenario, if we can't get something figured out with the lawyer then we're going to apply for a public defender or whatever works best for me."

Neiley encouraged Boebert to go with a public defender until he can afford another esquire.

"I always think it's a good idea to maybe do both, because if you qualify, you have options," he said, according to Westword. "We can set this off for a little bit of time for you to make that decision."

Meantime, Boebert won some compliments from Neiley for his all-black suit he wore.

"Thank you for the attire," Neiley said, according to the outlet. "I appreciate it when people dress for court."

Cops in Rifle, Colorado, contend that Boebert robbed a woman with a brain tumor who said that she only had $75 "left to her name."

Overall, police say that Boebert and three underage friends were caught on surveillance camera breaking into people's cars, taking any credit cards they had inside, and using them to go on a shopping spree.

The charges allege Boebert is the leader of a crime ring trio, along with one underage female with whom Boebert "supposedly made a sex tape."

Boebert was easily identified in surveillance footage due to the fact that he was wearing a sweatshirt that featured the logo of Shooter's Grill, the restaurant that his mother once owned with her estranged husband before becoming a congresswoman.

Boebert is expected back in court in early May.
