Manchester City lead Liverpool for the transfer of Bayern Munich maestro Jamal Musiala

Manchester City are leading Liverpool in the race for the transfer of Bayern Munich maestro, Jamal Musiala. That is according to the Independent, which reports that the 21-year-old has shown no desire to extend or improve his contract at Allianz Arena which will expire in 2026.

Musiala is considering his future in Bavaria owing to Bayern Munich’s likely inability to retain the Bundesliga title. Clubs across the continent even feel Der FCB could agree to sell the 27-cap Germany star this summer. He will also favour a return to England if a deal materialises.

Bayern Munich signed Musiala as a youth in 2019 after stints in Southampton and Chelsea’s academies. The west London native would now like his chance to play in the Premier League with Manchester City showing the most interest in Musiala’s feasible transfer over Liverpool.

FC Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also among the swarm of elite teams interested in Musiala’s availability. But the Catalan club, Parisian powerhouse and Liverpool will not have the resources to rival Manchester City if Bayern Munich entertain a bidding war for Musiala.

Ruben Amorim wants Liverpool to sign four Sporting players if he replaces Jurgen Klopp

Ruben Amorim will look to sign four Sporting CP players if he agrees to replace Jurgen Klopp as the next manager of Liverpool. That is according to Jornal de Noticias, which reports that the 39-year-old has held talks with the hierarchy at Anfield about taking over in the summer.

Liverpool view Amorim as one of the very few credible candidates to replace Klopp when he leaves in the summer. The Portuguese coach is yet to agree to move to Merseyside. But he is already drawing up plans to possibly coax a few of the Leoes’ key players to England, as well.

Amorim would like Liverpool to target centre-backs Ousmane Diomande and Goncalo Inacio as he feels the Reds’ defence needs fortifying. Diomande’s contract has an €80m (£68.5m) release clause included, while Inacio’s deal with Sporting has a €60m (£51.5m) break clause.

Additionally, Amorim sees scope to improve Liverpool’s core with Sporting’s midfield anchor, Morten Hjulmand, and right-wing with Marcus Edwards. The latter boasts six goals and eight assists in 40 games this term. Hjulmand has four goals and four assists in 43 appearances.

Liverpool hero Javier Mascherano weighs in on Luis Diaz’s future amid interest from PSG

Liverpool hero Javier Mascherano feels Luis Diaz is ‘exactly’ where he needs to be at Anfield, amid interest from Paris Saint-Germain in his summer transfer. The 27-year-old has been on Merseyside since his transfer from FC Porto in January 2022 and has a contract until 2027.

Diaz has also been in great form since the turn of the year having registered five of his eight Premier League goals. The forward has also recorded all four assists so far this season since Boxing Day. But PSG could look to test Liverpool’s resolve when the sales start this summer.

Colombian journalist Pipe Sierra has reported that PSG have identified Diaz as a target. But the Ligue 1 giants are yet to hold any talks with Liverpool about a transfer. And Mascherano believes Diaz should reject any move to the French club in favour of staying on Merseyside.

“He is a great player,” Mascherano has told Antena 2. “[He is] very decisive when it comes to playing, especially in one-on-one duels. The truth is that I think he has arrived at a team that fits him just right.

“If there is one thing Liverpool has, it is that they love players like Luis Diaz who leave everything on the field and have that strength and leave everything on the pitch. That is why I think he fits exactly where he has arrived.”
