It was a trip back to the 1980s with a difference as more than 1,100 people of all ages gathered for an ’80s Silent Disco in Ely Cathedral.
The sold-out event, which took place last Thursday and Friday (4-5 April), is the second one to be held at Ely as cathedrals across the country are busy hosting similar events.

Joss Palmer, the cathedral’s events manager, said: “It was a truly joyous event with people of all ages coming together to experience a different type of music experience, and thoroughly enjoying the ambiance, space and wonderment of Ely’s stunning nave.”

During the event, each disco-goer was given a set of state-of-the-art headphones with three different channels to choose from, offering a selection of ’80s pop, dance and R&B – meaning that they were all singing along to different tracks at the same time.
