Hunstanton Fire Cadets will be taking part in up to five-hour challenge at fire station to raise money for Norfolk and Waveney Mind

A fundraising event is taking place at the weekend which will see cadets get hands-on for charity.

Hunstanton Fire Cadets are taking part in a challenge on Saturday to raise money for Norfolk and Waveney Mind charity at Hunstanton Fire Station between 10am and 3pm and everyone is welcome to attend.

The group of 14 cadets will be rolling up 999 lengths of hoses within five hours.

On the day there will be a raffle, a tombola with “amazing” prizes as well as games and cake and a donation pot for people wanting to support the cause.

MIND is one of the West Norfolk mayor's chosen charities so the cadets are raising money for it on her behalf and a JustGiving page has been set up to help gather some funds.

The mayor’s cadet for West Norfolk, who is leading in organising the event, is Danny Prime, 15.

Danny said he is feeling “confident about Saturday and ready for the challenge”.

He said: “I wanted to become part of the fire cadets because, in my future career, I want to become a firefighter.

“I'm hoping that joining the cadets gives me the experience of the tools they use on shouts and hopefully give me ideas to sign up to the service.
