‘Like a wand’: Robbie Savage says 25-year-old Arsenal player is ‘a class act’

Arsenal are having a wonderful season, and one of the big reasons behind that is the Gunners’ attack.

While Arsenal do not have a world-class and proven goalscorer like Liverpool and Manchester City, the attacking unit of the North London club is very strong.

Arsenal have scored 75 goals in the Premier League this season. Liverpool, who have Mohamed Salah, has found the back of the 72 times, while Manchester City, who have Erling Haaland, have bagged 71 goals.

Bukayo Saka is the top scorer for Arsenal this season and has been brilliant. He is a winger. The England international has scored 18 goals and given 13 assists in all competitions.

Leandro Trossard is not a regular in the Arsenal starting lineup, but the Belgian winger has still scored 13 goals in 38 competitive appearances this season.

Another attacking player who is making a huge impact for Arsenal is Martin Odegaard. The Norway international playmaker has scored 10 goals and given seven assists in 40 appearances this season.

Former Derby County star Robbie Savage has been hugely impressed with Odegaard.

The BBC 606 pundit has included the 25-year-old former Real Madrid attacking midfielder in his Premier League Team of the Season for The Mirror.

What Robbie Savage finds special about Arsenal star Martin Odegaard

Savage wrote about Odegaard in The Mirror: “A class act, chipping in 10 goals and seven assists from midfield and often dictating the tempo of games.

“That left foot is like a wand, and his chemistry with Bukayo Saka on the Gunners’ right flank is something you can’t manufacture in a laboratory.‌”

What Troy Deeney has heard about Martin Odegaard

Not only is Martin Odegaard the playmaker-in-chief for Arsenal, but he is also the club captain.

Former Watford striker Troy Deeney recently disclosed what he has been told about how Odegaard is as a captain.

Deeney told The Sun in March: “When I think of the best captains I played against — men like John Terry and Vincent Kompany — they had an aura, an in-built respect which meant when they spoke, world-class players in their team would know they had been spoken to and would react positively.

“And you don’t have to be an old-school leader to be a good captain. Martin Odegaard leads by example.

“I know he is one of Arsenal’s best players and I know he is highly regarded by his team-mates as an excellent skipper. I don’t think Fernandes commands that sort of respect.”
