‘His sense of adventure’: Robbie Savage says £15m Tottenham Hotspur player has been a revelation

Robbie Savage has raved about a Tottenham Hotspur defender and has noted how important he is to the way that Ange Postecoglou plays his football.

Tottenham Hotspur are having a very good season and could end up fourth in the Premier League table.

While Spurs have conceded more goals than they would have liked, the North London club’s expansive and attacking brand of football has been a joy to watch.

Harry Kane left Tottenham for Bayern Munich in the summer of 2023, but no one is saying that Spurs are missing the England international striker.

Much has been made about how good Micky van de Ven has been at the back, but there is another young defender that we cannot ignore.

Destiny Udogie has been superb for Tottenham this season and has become the first-choice left-back in Ange Postecoglou’s side.

Udogie joined up with the Tottenham squad in the summer of 2023 after a loan spell at Udinese, and the 21-year-old £15 million (Sky Sports) left-back has not disappointed.

The Italy international has scored two goals and given three assists in 27 Premier League matches for Spurs this season.

Former Derby County star Robbie Savage has been hugely impressed with Udogie and has included him in the Premier League Team of the Season for The Mirror.

How Destiny Udogie is important to Tottenham Hotspur’s style

Savage wrote about Udogie in The Mirror: “In the cult of Ange Postecoglou’s revamp at Spurs, Udogie’s performances at left-back have been one of the biggest revelations.

“I’ve really enjoyed his sense of adventure from left-back, often supplementing Big Ange’s front four and helping Tottenham to camp around the opposition box.”

Destiny Udogie is now worth £89m

Destiny Udogie may have cost Tottenham Hotspur just £15 million in 2022, but the left-back is now worth almost £100 million.

CIES has noted in their latest report that Udogie’s value is now £89 million. That is a massive indication of just how good the left-back has been for Spurs.

Udogie has been arguably the best left-back in the Premier League this season. He is only 21 now, so I would expect the defender to get better in the coming years.
