With all of the Kentucky news as of late (part of it involving a certain head coach in the NBA) it seems fitting to mesh all of that together to create this latest edition of BBNBA. As teams are gearing up and putting their focus into the postseason (and specifically the Play-In, as that certain NBA coach reminded us), some are playing for their lives. One of those teams is the Sacramento Kings, which currently sit at 8th in the Western Conference.
Coming into Thursday night, it was imperative that the Kings got a much-needed win over the New Orleans Pelicans in order to help their push to the playoffs. However, Zion Williamson and company were set on busting out the brooms on the Kings — the Pelicans had beaten the Kings in all four of the previous matchups this season.
Unfortunately for Sacramento, those brooms would be put to use as the Pels won 135-123 to complete the season sweep on the road. Despite the loss, however, former ‘Cat De’Aaron Fox put up 33 points as he did everything in his power to get the Kings over the hump. Still, Sacramento fell short. Trey Lyles added to the effort with six points of his own. Malik Monk was out due to a knee injury.
Other BBNBA notes
- Ashton Hagans finished with five points, two rebounds, four assists, and one steal in 14 minutes for the Portland Trail Blazers, although it came in a 100-92 loss to the Golden State Warriors. It was the 19th NBA game this season for Hagans, who is averaging 4.2 points, 2.8 assists, and 2.4 rebounds in 16.6 minutes per contest.
- Karl-Anthony Towns has been sidelined since March 4 due to a meniscus tear in his left knee. However, he’s nearing a return for the Minnesota Timberwolves. However, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Towns is expected to return tonight against the Atlanta Hawks. Minnesota is 55-25 on the season (second in the Western Conference) and is 14-6 without him on the season.
