Matt Damon’s ‘jungle’ cat is ‘jacked up like Arnold Schwarzenegger’ after taking steroids

Matt Damon recently opened up about the wonderful story of his adopted cat while appearing on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Celebrity pet stories are always a treat and there are plenty of big names who have been on the record professing their love for cats, including Taylor Swift, Ricky Gervais, Ed Sheeran, Nicole Kidman, Robert Downey Jr., and more. You may often hear people say that cats are connoisseurs of comfort, and recently Matt Damon shared with fans a story that will leave you wanting to give your cat, or any cat, a big old cuddle.

Matt Damon’s story of adopting Costa Rica cat is the sweetest

Matt shared with the world the wonderful story of his adopted cat during a recent appearance on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

“So we adopted this cat in Costa Rica about 10 years ago,” the 53-year-old Oppenheimer and Bourne franchise actor began. “He was living by himself in the jungle, he was the coolest cat you’ve ever seen. I mean, he was hunting, he had two giant holes in his side…”

He explained the cat was fighting for his life, and they began feeding it while staying at an Airbnb for the month.

“We had to take the cat,” Matt remembered when it came time for him to return to the US. “We were like, ‘This guy’s gonna die now. He’s relying on us.’ He moves into our house. I think he’s had a little yard in LA, but he’ll be great out there… he never went outside ever again.”

After some laughter from the audience, the story took a tragic turn, revealing the cat ended up with a brain tumor. “He’s the toughest jungle cat,” he said, “I’m not gonna let the brain tumor take this cat.”

He underwent treatment with radiation, etc. but sadly the cat’s behaviour was alarming once they’d moved to New York. So, he took the cat to a neurologist named Chad at an animal hospital, who told him he’d be best to prepare his children for the worst.

Treatment had cat looking like ‘Arnold Schwarzenegger’

Agreeing to return the cat to the hospital in three weeks, the neurologist made a suggestion.: “‘I could load him up on steroids,'” Matt recalled Chad offering.

When asked if giving the cat steroids could create any long term issues, Chad immediately said yes, but that they could see what happens, and that they did.

“That was two and a half years ago,” Matt triumphantly announced with an adorable smile on his face. “Now he’s jacked… He’s like Arnold Schwarzenegger. He’s got muscles on muscles.”

Sadly, Matt has a secret and private Instagram so we can’t see his furry friend. We’ll just have to use our imagination.

It’s such a beautiful story—now go and give your cat or cats a hug, even if your home is their jungle.
