Paralympian and Winter Olympian visit Sutton on Trent Primary and Nursery School

A school’s pupils were treated to an exciting PE lesson as an Olympian and Paralympian paid a visit.

Sutton on Trent Primary and Nursery School was recently visited by Mansfield-born Paralympian swimmer Ollie Hynd, and Winter Olympian and sprinter Joel Fearon.

Ollie has won three Paralympic games gold medals, and Joel’s four-man bobsleigh crew has a bronze medal from the Sochi Winter Olympics.

The pair’s visit to the school was organised through Athletes in Schools, which aims to inspire the next generation of champions.

Julia Shephard, PE co-ordinator at the school, said: “They inspired the children to have courage and to see the importance of goal-setting, in whatever they do, by telling us about their personal sporting journeys.
