Unai Emery hailed for turning flop into ‘terrific’ player
Since joining the club in 2022, Emery has completely turned Villa around. From the club sitting in the middle of a relegation battle, the Birmingham outfit are now serious European contenders.
Much of this can be attributed to the manager who has helped turn plenty of Villa’s first-team into star players in the Premier League.
One man who has truly hit form under the Spaniard is Leon Bailey. The winger who was a flop under Steve Gerrard is having his best season at Villa Park.
Now, It’s All Kicking Off Podcast has praised Emery for his ‘brilliant’ coaching work in turning the winger’s form around.

Sky Sports pundit ‘baffled’ by Lille
On Thursday night, Villa took part in their biggest game of the season so far. Emery’s side hosted Lille in the first leg of the Europa Conference League quarter-finals, hoping to go on to win the cup.
Villa managed to come out with a 2-1 victory at Villa Park. However, this was not without its hardship.
One thing Lille did extremely well was consistently beat the host’s offside trap. Under Emery, Villa are renowned for their ability to catch their opponents offside multiple times, yet, this did not work against the French giants.
Speaking on the game, Sky Sports pundit Lee Hendrie ‘couldn’t get his head around’ how the visitors were constantly able to beat this system.

John McGinn critiques Villa fans
On Thursday night, it looked as if Villa were almost destined to reach the semi-finals. The hosts were 2-0 up and looked fairly comfortable going into the closing exchanges.
However, a late goal from Bafode Diakite has renewed life in the tie, much to the dismay of fans.
After the game, captain McGinn questioned why the fans around the ground were so down towards the end of the game. The midfielder stated that the Villa Park faithful were ‘quite flat’ at the end despite them getting a 2-1 win.
