Nuno Espirito Santo drops verdict on Wolves VAR controversy

VAR has dominated Wolves’ headlines all week. After the system already made multiple controversial Wolves calls throughout 2024, last weekend was VAR arguably at its worst.

As Gary O’Neil’s side hosted West Ham at Molineux, the Old Gold found themselves 2-1 down in added time. However, captain Max Kilman thought he had saved the day in the dying seconds as the defender rose highest to nod in from a corner.

Yet, VAR once again found a way to get involved as it disallowed the late equaliser for offside.

Ahead of the trip to Forest on Saturday, former Wolves boss Nuno dropped his verdict on the incident. He believed that ‘it was a goal’ and insisted he wants better decisions from the officials in the future.

Wolves once again face a tough test on Saturday as they travel to the City Ground to face Nottingham Forest.

O’Neil’s side are aiming to get back to winning ways after going four games without a win.

However, it will no doubt be an incredibly tough game as they face a Forest team in a relegation battle. In the build-up to the game, O’Neil confirmed the visitors will see the return of potentially two first-team players from the sidelines for the Premier League clash.

Multiple Wolves first-teamers have seen their form recognised throughout the season. Joao Gomes picked up his first Brazil cap, Jose Sa also made his Portugal debut and multiple academy graduates have made appearances for the senior squad.

Now, midfielder Tommy Doyle has been the next player to have his talent recognised.

In the week, the midfielder was awarded a PFA Special Recognition Award for his time with the England Under 21s.
