Rune rebukes ATP after his perceived mistreatment in Monte Carlo

Danish tennis star Holger Rune hit out at the ATP on Saturday for his treatment at the Monte Carlo Masters, where he lost in Friday's quarter-finals to Italy's Jannik Sinner.

The ATP, which runs the men's tour, put out a post on X (formerly Twitter) with a video of a winning shot from Sinner's 4-6, 7-6 (8-6), 6-3 victory. "May the force be with you" was written above the video, in an apparent Star Wars pun.

But Rune said on X: "Meaning what @atptour...? Not that you gave me the best conditions in the first place having to play 2 matches the day before ending late, leaving almost no recovery time.

"Chair Umpire making crucial mistakes and giving wrong warning that disturbed the game. May the force be with you. Jesus Christ"
