Michigan legacy Alexander McPherson hoping for offer after recent visit

Alexander McPherson

Rising 2025 Bradenton (Fla.) IMG Academy EDGE Alexander McPherson knows what it means to be a Michigan Wolverine.

After all, McPherson’s mother, grandfather and great grandfather all attended the University of Michigan. McPherson would love to keep up the family tradition and be the first to don the winged helmet.

“A Michigan offer to me would mean a lot,” McPherson said. “If I were to go there, I would be the fourth generation in my family to be a Wolverine. What stands out to me about Michigan is the culture.”

McPherson is hopeful that offer will eventually come. For now, he hopes to continue to catch the eye of Michigan’s new defensive staff.

McPherson made his way to Michigan for an unofficial visit last weekend and enjoyed his time in Ann Arbor.

“Overall, the visit was great,” McPherson said. “My favorite part was spending time with Coach (Lou) Esposito and seeing how the staff coaches, especially since they are new.”

New Michigan defensive line coach Lou Esposito will continue to keep an eye on McPherson. With the spring evaluation right around the corner and several targets at IMG, it wouldn’t be surprised to see Esposito make a stop at the national powerhouse.

McPherson said he enjoyed his conversations with Esposito and believes he will do a great job with Michigan’s talented defensive line.

“I think Coach Esposito is a great coach,” McPherson said. “I think the Michigan defensive line will be one of the best if not the best next season.”

This visit also gave McPherson a chance to get to know new defensive coordinator Wink Martindale and new head coach Sherrone Moore.

“I had some time with Coach Moore and Coach Martindale,” McPherson said. “I really enjoyed watching them coach as well. I think they are continuing what Coach (Jim) Harbaugh started.”

There is no doubt Michigan would be able to secure an official visit if the Wolverines make a push. Whether that happens or not will be determined later this offseason.

McPherson currently holds offers from Florida Atlantic, Indiana, Michigan State, Oklahoma State, Pitt, South Florida, UNLV and others. He is set to make an official visit to Oklahoma State this weekend.

At 6-foot-4, 240 pounds, McPherson is not yet ranked.

Oklahoma State currently holds the lead on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine with a 66.8 percent chance of landing him. Michigan State is in second place with a 20.8 percent chance of landing him.
