It would not be a surprise to Ukraine if Russia deployed Pacific Fleet troops to the war. With this move, Moscow could expose some of its borders, says Ukrainian Navy spokesperson Dmytro Pletenchuk.

"This is nothing new for us. A 155-mm shell doesn't care whether it's a marine or a convict from Wagner. It kills them in about the same way. Yes, of course, these are contract soldiers, they may have better training. But given that this war has been going on for 11 years, we cannot say that it will be a surprise for us," the spokesperson noted.

At the same time, he noted that the deployment of Russian Pacific Fleet troops would leave some parts of the Russian border exposed.

"We can already say that these are the geopolitical consequences of the invasion of Ukraine for the Russian Federation. It is not yet clear how they will end for them," Pletenchuk added.

Background

The Defense Intelligence of Ukraine reported that Russia is sending personnel from the Russian Pacific Fleet to the war in Ukraine. We are talking about 2000 Russian servicemen from the Primorsky and Kamchatka regions of the Russian Federation.

Also, about 400 soldiers of the 11th Air Force and Air Defense Army are going to be deployed to the war.

According to the DIU, these military units have not been involved in the war before. They are being thrown into the combat zone due to Russian losses in order to man up.

According to the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Russia has already lost more than 452,000 soldiers since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Over the past 24 hours alone, our soldiers have eliminated more than 1,000 Russians.
