Donald Trump's boast that he would be more than willing to testify at his upcoming hush money trial was greeted by a great deal of skepticism by one of his former lawyers on Saturday morning.

During an extended interview on MSNBC's "The Weekend," former Trump lawyer Michael Cohen blew a hole in the idea that it would be a good thing for the former president to take the stand as he faces 34 felony counts related to paying off adult film star Stormy Daniels before the 2016 election.

Speaking with the hosts, Cohen pointed out the simple fact that Trump is never a good witness when put under oath, but admitted he would enjoy it if the former president made good on his promise.

"First of all, he has to be there as a criminal defendant — he has to be there that is part of the process," he began. "But, the likelihood of Donald Trump being on the stand is equal to the likelihood of me waking up tomorrow 7'6" and playing center for the New York Knicks, it is not going to happen."

"How many times have we heard the same story again and again and again that, you know, ''I want to testify. Absolutely I'm going to. I'm going to tell the truth,'" he elaborated. "The one thing that, you know, every time Donald opens his mouth, you know that something non-truthful is coming out of it."

"We also know that he's not a good defendant, he's not a good witness," he continued. "We watched that with the E. Jean Carroll case, where he couldn't even identify E. Jean Carroll. and confused her with Marla Maples."

"He's not a good witness, he's not going to take the stand," he re-emphasized. "I hope that I'm wrong because I think that would be classic for America to be able to see Donald Trump on the witness stand trying to defend himself in a case that is indefensible."
