Iran Has Begun Attack Against Israel

Iran has begun an airborne attack against Israel NSC Spokesperson Adrienne Watson conformed. “This attack is likely to unfold over a number of hours,” stated Watson, emphasizing that US support for Israel remains “ironclad.”

President Biden cut short his weekend at Rehoboth Beach to return to the White House amid the prospect of Iran launching an attack on Israel.

The meeting is slated to occur in the White House Situation Room. Attendees in the Situation Room will include Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General Charles Q. Brown, CIA Director Bill Burns, Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Jon Finer, Counselor to the President Steve Ricchetti, and National Security Council Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa Brett McGurk.

Vice President Harris and Chief of Staff Jeff Zients will participate via secure video conference.

Earlier today, the President received briefings on Middle East developments from National Security Advisor Sullivan and Principal Deputy National Security Advisor Finer, according to the White House.

As Marine One ferries the President back to the White House for consultations with his national security team, Jordan is temporarily closing its airspace tonight.

President Biden earlier stated his expectation that Iran would attack Israel “sooner rather than later” and this proved to be true.

President Biden is being regularly updated on the situation by his national security team and will meet with them this afternoon at the White House. His team is in constant communication with Israeli officials as well as other partners and allies.

“We have prepared for diverse scenarios in advance. In order to intercept these launches, we have the circles of protection from both the navy and the air force on several levels,” said IDF Spokesperson Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari.

Iran vowed a retaliatory response to Israel for the attack on its consulate in Syria.
