‘Top-quality’: Jamie O’Hara says he was wrong about £40m Newcastle United player

Jamie O’Hara has shared his admiration of one Newcastle United youngster after the match against Tottenham Hotspur at St. James’ Park.

Newcastle United hammered Tottenham Hotspur 4-0 at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Alexander Isak was the star of the show for Newcastle. The Sweden international striker scored two goals and showed why he is on the radar of Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

Elliot Anderson also had a good game, and so did Brazil international midfielder Bruno Guimaraes, who has been tipped by one pundit to join Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

Another Newcastle player who had a very good game against Tottenham was Anthony Gordon.

The 23-year-old former Everton winger provided two assists and scored one of the goals for the Magpies.

Former Tottenham player Jamie O’Hara was impressed, and the talkSPORT pundit has admitted that he did not think that Gordon would not be a success at Newcastle when he joined from Everton for £40 million (Sky Sports) in January 2023.

Jamie O’Hara gives his verdict on Newcastle United winger Anthony Gordon

O’Hara said about Gordon on talkSPORT (5:56 pm, April 13, 2024): “I wasn’t sure about Anthony Gordon when he went there.

“He started off slow, didn’t he? And the fans weren’t sure about him, but now, this season he has played top top top-quality football.”

Anthony Gordon has been a Newcastle success this season

Newcastle United did extremely well last season and finished in the top four of the Premier League table.

Eddie Howe’s side were expected to build on that success and qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the second season in a row, but Newcastle may not even get into Europe next campaign.

One Newcastle player who has done well this season is Anthony Gordon. I think that he has been one of the best young players in the Premier League.

Gordon has made 29 starts and one substitute appearance in the league this season. The 23-year-old has scored 10 goals and given eight assists in those games.

That Gordon started five of the six UEFA Champions League group games for Newcastle this season underlines his importance to the team.
