Meghan Markle ‘shares similarities with Princess Diana’ in her latest move, a royal commentator had claimed.
Darren Stanton spoke about the “parallels” between the duchess and the late Princess Diana and how Meghan wanted to follow in the princess’s footsteps.
He said: “When Meghan was first brought into the Royal Family, it elevated her status to a global scale.
“She holds great precedence with Princess Diana. She represents a lot of strength in first joining the Royal Family and then stepping away.”
Prince Harry and Meghan stepped down as working royals in 2020 and moved to the US to live with their two children, Archie and Lilibet.
Stanton explained: “She followed her heart and what she cared about over everything else. There are lots of parallels between them and I get a sense Meghan wanted to follow in her footsteps.
“They both share a passion and drive to help others.”
Meghan is launching her new lifestyle brand American Riviera Orchard alongside a Netflix series concentrating on cooking, gardening, entertaining and friendship.
Stanton continued: “The fact that Meghan is launching a new lifestyle brand tells us she’s in a good place and feels motivated.
“It’s a natural transition for her to embark on. Meghan has a voice and wants to use it in a good positive way to help women feel empowered and heard in today’s society.”
Meghan has described herself on the couple’s website as a “feminist and champion of human rights and gender equity.”
The couple founded The Archewell Foundation in 2020 to support communities in need in moments of crisis and long-term aid.

Princess Diana was also known for her charity work, as well as her empathy and sympathy for those in need.
The princess was very open about mental health issues during a time when there was a stigma surrounding mental health.
Stanton concluded: “She [Meghan] has a huge following and there is a clear interest in what Meghan does with her life going forward.
“I believe that Meghan will go from strength to strength when building her new brand. It’s been a turbulent few years, but now she’s returning with a purpose that gives her fulfilment – and has found her feet with finding the right path she wants to go down.”
