Strangers gobsmacked as they come to Grand National in same exact outfits - including accessories

Everyone knows that awkward feeling when you turn up to the same event in the same outfit as someone else, but these two women thought it was amazing.

The Grand National 2024 took place at Aintree in Liverpool yesterday, April 14, with I Am Maximum storming ahead to win for jockey Paul Townend and trainer Willie Mullins. Thousands of people come to watch the horse race every year - and while there's no official dress code, it doesn't stop people from using the racing as an excuse to dress up.

You'll see all sorts of stunning and colourful outfits, particularly on Ladies Day \- and people like to go all out. So when two women, who didn't know each other, realised they were wearing the exact same outfit - complete with accessories in the same colour - they were gobsmacked.

They were spotted by Racing TV's social media team, who couldn't believe they hadn't planned the coordinated outfits. The women were wearing the exact same green dress, coupled with hot pink heels, a matching pink bag and pink fascinator. But rather than thinking it was awkward - the women loved it.

In a video shared on Racing TV's TikTok and Instagram accounts, presenter Ella McNeill can be heard asking: "Are you together?," to which the women both reply: "No." To confirm, Ella said: "So, you two have not come together, but you've come matching. You're joking. So this wasn't planned, at all?."

One of the women explained: "No, but I think pink and green goes together."

The video, which was captioned "what are the chances!?" was seen by over 665,000 people on TikTok, and has received hundreds of likes and comments on Instagram - and everyone agreed that the women looked fabulous. One person wrote: "They need to be friends forever."

Another wrote: "The fact they've paired it with almost identical fascinators and shoes is crazy." and a third commented: "They both look absolutely stunning - that dress is gorgeous." "Great minds think alike! To both look great! Have fun!" wrote another.

The Grand National is one of the biggest racing events in the calendar, and is synonymous with eye-catching dresses, larger-than-life hats and vibrant suits. Ladies Day is watched the world over, and is renowned for its race day fashion.

This year the Ladies Day Style Awards winners for Best Dressed Racegoers went to Ainsley Briscoe, 29, who wore a stylish suit from ASOS and a hat from Pink Boutique, and Claire Illingworth, 39, who wore a dress from Lavish Alice. This year there was also a new award category for sustainability, which was won by Sally Ann Morgan, whose whole outfit was made by her mum.
